Char Algi Union is a traditional and larger union in Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur district. The area of ​​this union is 41 square kilometers. Even today, with its reputation of various ancient and traditional colleges, schools, madrasas and temples, this union is walking in tandem with the present world. This union is made up of 5 villages. 1) Char Sekandar 2) Char Neyamat 3) Char Hasan Hossain 4) Char Tobgi 5) Char Algi. In terms of organizational structure, it has been divided into 9 wards. People of different religions including Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists are living here. The population of this union is 35,525 (approximately) with 18,240 males and 18,265 females. It is geographically bounded on the south by the Meghna River, on the north by the Char Poragachha Union, on the west by the Char Alexander Union and Municipality, and on the east by the Char Badam Union. Literacy rate among the town people is 53%, birth registration is 91%, sanitation is 69%. Most of the people in this union are involved in agriculture. There are also people of different professions including employees, expatriates, businessmen.
